Ombre Birthday

I love how the yellow really pops on this card! I was inspired by a demo Anne Marie Hile did of the Artistry Blossoms Designer Series paper from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog coming out in June. Again, honestly I was not interested in this paper until I saw a card like this with it. This simple birthday card with subtle details, makes a statement! I mimicked the new DSP by using a brayer to create an ombre effect on whisper white cardstock with the Balmy Blue stamp pad. I then also created a fading ombre effect with the Daffodil Delight stamp pad to use as a layer behind the sentiment. The Breathtaking Bouquet Background added just enough interest to the background layer.

Thinking of You

When I first started thinking about this card,I knew I wanted to use Pacific Point. I wasn’t sure the lighter Crumb Cake was enough so I cautiously added the Soft Suede and Early Espresso. I’m quite happy with the results! I’m not so good at adding lots of little repeating stamps. For some reason I can’t repeat ink consistently and all the images come out looking different. But with this stamp set, the flowers and buds are one stamp and the branch is another making it so easy to create a consistent image. And the branch stamp even has cut outs so you can fit the flowers in right where they go. No guess work! And the result is a beautifully put together flowering branch. I’m sad to see this set on the retiring list. I have used it here and there over the last few years and have really enjoyed the results. Look for this set and coordinating dies on sale in my retiring section after June 3rd.

You Make Me Smile

Colorful Seasons did not disappoint with this beautiful design by Sue Vine. Sadly this set and matching dies are on the retiring list and won’t be around after June 2nd. I have not used this set enough, but I sure did enjoy creating six cards of three designs recently on a relaxing Sunday morning. Of this design, aside from the gorgeous color palette Sue Vine chose, I love the shading on the flowers and leaves, made with a sponge dauber. Such a simple technique that makes a big difference.

Birthday Wishes

Cutting Dimensions

I really wanted to see what the Royal Peacock set looked like, especially this stamp with a different color palette. So I tried one in pink and one in royal blue. I’m not ashamed to tell you my first go at the pink Peacock did not go well. LOL. If at first you don’t succeed, try try again! I am pretty happy with the second go around and the Royal Blue card is great for those men in our lives. Both of these cards were shipped off to my Mum. Can’t wait to see who she sends these to!
